Inspired by Elise's pin-up from the previous year 'Jackie'. Skeleanor carries some similar vibes, but they both definitely have to get their makeup at very different stores.
The third version of Roc Vapor, here to spread a revolution of love across our city. Our, slightly better then the average city in many ways: culture, affordability, tech, art. Ya know, I feel slightly good at many things, I feel so at home.
Gordy & Perrin where born during an art hangout pass and draw. We pretty much do pass and draws whenever we hang out with our friend Les. We usually don't get a mini series though. In the first of thee Perrin decides he is lonely so he summons a demon pumpkin cat named Gordy. What could go wrong?
Perrin Decided he wanted to watch a scary movie. Gordy picked the move and is totally unfazed (being a hell beast is pretty desensitizing.) Perrin is much more innocent, I think the graphic gore was a little too much for him.
Gordy realizes he made a mistake and tries to sooth his frightened master with some tasty Halloween treats. Man, being a summoning demon is hard.
Inspired by a line from Adventure Time (we watched the whole show in 2024.) This Drawing really doesn't resemble the show at all, but we'll take our inspiration from anywhere we can get it. Elise doesn't usually like to do scenes or much background, Here's hoping Elder Toad's success well change her ways.
Elise - "I don't got much to say about any of the animals, really."
Elise drawing eye balls on everything had become a full blown meme by the time 'Eye Ball Bats' was created at an art party. uniquely for Elise, the background is done with water color!
Though we didn't actually stare into the eclipse, we did stare at the clouds as they grew ever darker, until the blackness eclipsed even our souls, our hopes, our dreams... Only for them to return a moment later... whew, glad that's over with.
Another derivation of 'Vapor Wave Rochester.' Making the Eclipse was interesting, the shape is actually a mesh with illumination and glow effects. Getting all the curves and thicknesses right takes more time than you'd think, as did making the fine detail of the skyline, and all the windows... SO MANY WINDOWS.
Hey his one looks more like an eclipse! Eclipse Black and Eclipse Blue both used the same multi medium layering to get the texture of the moon. gel pen, then oil pen, and another layer of gel pen on top to add the texture. The light rays are a mix of oil pen and alcohol markers.
William's first attempt at drawing an eclipse. He ended up getting carried away with the halo lines and not really drawing the eclipse. Turned out interesting enough to stick around.
William drew this while listening the a Youtube video about the history of the Tau. Its funny if you know what that is, and if you don't you'd just think he's a nerd. Anyway, long format audio media goes very well with drawing abstract. With the intellect is occupied, the instinct is free to do as it pleases.
What animal artist can resist drawing capybaras, the're just so chill. I hope there really is a green and a yellow one out there somewhere.
'Star Cider Animals' was created for a show we did at a cidery. Sometimes the simplest things can spark inspiration. While cideries turned out the be a lousy place to sell art, we at least got this adorable scene!
Will's Second attempt at combining physical drawings and digital editing turned out to be a much more comfortable process, and more popular!
A great thing about this half drawing half edit; multiple edits can come out interesting, There are at least 5 Spheria varients, though Emerald and Ruby stand out the most!
The original Spheria drawing started with a scaffold of circles and radiating lines. The rest is all doodles.
Pikraselshio, like its name, is fictional biology. This style is created by experimenting with simple rules, such as: if the neightboring line gets thicker, this line should get even thicker! You can see this in how the dark green interacts with silver/gold fissures.
Sloths have a reputation for being slow. Not this ambitious pilosa, hes got places to go!
Cat Nebula was born at an art party as a pass and draw. One of your favorite past times! Les drew the cats, as always. Elise colored the cats, and will drew the radiating waves.
Octopi are one of the smartest animals on the planet! But none smarter than this specific octopus. What do you think he's reading?
Magic Hands, casting a spell. Do the hands' powers come from the crab legs, the tattoos, or from some latent force passed down from generatiosn of mages.
Ancient mythology contains a wealth of inspiration. There is no better subject for a girl that loves drawing snakes and the female form.
Sometimes the process that creates biology can remind us of the patterns found in space. Will's abstract process can come out looking like either, and this one... clearly space. Or well, a canyon? Space in a canyon?
Simple layer masks and color changes can create dramatic alterations to a piece. These adjusted color pallets combined together create something wholly new!
Pinky out! this croc knows how to party like a gent. He'd never eat you, never, for real, never ever.
Explody, like its cousin Spheria is a doodle colored with photo editing software. Explody though, only used 2 circles for scaffolding. I think the smaller number of reference lines allowed a curvier shape to take form.
Explody ended up getting some really amazing color pallets. William has found that sometimes picking a random simple set of colors can be very liberating and original.
William doesn't usually draw with strong subject matter, but decided to try to draw a face. It didn't come out "corrrect" but the uncanny face felt like an ancient statue or some fallen alien god.
Such a dapper fellow. This gent wants nothing more than to slither and sip in class.
Mystical, sexy, ethereal, reveared by snakes; truely iconic.
Tortoise boy here lives the long life like no other. stunning and confident, he Strolls about for decades,
Elise used to make lots of mandalas. They are all very precise and perfectly varied. This piece inspired William to contemplate what makes the best ones so pleasing. The idea of 1/3 low, mid and high detail was born!
Elise has created many iconic pieces by combining Inktober prompts. Soothsayer is no different, and arguably the most iconic. I bet the soothsayer devined its own success.
While it would have probably been easier to draw white on black paper, sometimes it just feels right coloring in the whole night sky with a tiny pen.
Death Bouquet
Seaside Lattes
Jackie
No Cookies
Oni
Sweet Dreams
'Eye See It In Your Eyes' is a classic Elise mandala, Its got it all; Eyeballs, plants, symmetry, hypnosis.... yes.... Hypnosis... must... give... eyes.... to.... plant master......
'Nebula Night' a rare scene by Will. Who wouldn't want some night sky and mountains in their life?
The Newest Edition to Elise's Coffee animal collection. We still have the mug that's used as a reference. The mermaid and the narwhal got away though.
The first of Will's organic pen drawings to benefit from some digital mirroring.
Unreal achieves something that Will Loves about his art; it gets a unique interpretation from everyone.
The first attempt at digitizing a sharpie marker piece. The technique used here created a very complicated mesh that took 40 hours to manually alter. Because of subsurface and refraction light effects, the render took over 11 hours. The end result is very unique, and one of Will's all time favorites.
The first ever organic marker pattern drawing by Will. This piece started this whole style that has now become Will's main focus for 4 years.
A micron doodle created this mythical orderly fruit.
This piece was created as a tattoo design. Depicting a rising Buddha, this piece takes heavy influence from classic Chinese art.
Bat Buddies is one of three all time best selling prints, drawn with a Bic pen. These bats will never stop spilling the tea... while drinking tea.
Diles is a return to Will's original style, born in the margins of high school note books. It's always good to take it easy and revisit your roots.
Bubble Cells was mostly just a test and practice for Will's shading skills. He really wanted to make those bubbles pop.
Consequi Magnitudine; To achieve greatness. Consequi is Elise's largest Micron piece to date. What if Zodiac was an Idol? The question has been answered, well, for Capricorn anyway.
Rochester really needed a vapor wave scene. The view from Cobbs Hill, and well, Cobbs Hill itself, has always felt special to Will. He really wanted to pay tribute to this unique perspective of downtown.
